Summerhill garden centre is a friendly and welcoming retail destination for the whole family. We’re dog friendly too!
Purchased by the Humphreys family in 1981, Summerhill was a run-down garden market selling fruit, vegetables and cut flowers.
It occupied approx. 8 acres and employed the family, as well as 1 part-time and 2 full-time staff members.
Since that time, we have expanded to 20 acres and employ seasonally 80 staff. Several franchises have been introduced on-site during this time
to offer a more diverse shopping experience – you’ll truly find anything and everything here at Summerhill!
Of course our stock variety has expanded with us over the years, so whether you’re looking for indoor plants, outdoor plants, garden furniture,
BBQ’s, pots & planters, water features, homeware, animal care, we’ve got it all.
Providing an outstanding service is a core value for our team, and we know that it begins with understanding our customer’s needs. With over 40 years of experience we are confident in our ability to deliver a pleasant shopping experience from start to finish.

First, and foremost, we love plants! Anyone that visits the garden centre can see that we have an abundance of varieties. Our dedication lies in nurturing and giving expert advice on our plant range – count on us to guide you in the right direction!
The quality of our stock is extremely important to us, and is a key reason as to why we see many returning customers. This principal applies to everything in our garden centre from our large garden furniture suites to even the smallest of plants.
Often known for our Christmas displays, we like to keep the creativity going and provide inspiration for your homes year-round. Our beautiful displays are always changing throughout the year, so there’s always
something to see!

Found something you love, but can’t fit it in to your car? Don’t worry, help is at hand.
Our driver Colin and his team will be happy to deliver for you. We only use our own vans, not outside couriers, so the service is only available locally.

The month of November
We love hearing from our customers. We pride ourselves on our outstanding service and it’s wonderful to hear of the experiences our customers have had whilst shopping in the garden centre.
We have parking spaces for up to 450 cars and easy access both onto and off of the A127, which is the main dual-carriage way into Southend-on-Sea. The A127 is off Junction 29 of the M25 which is a 10 minute drive to our door. Plan your visit to Summerhill today. We can’t wait to see you.
