Jobs around the Garden…

  • Plant out winter bedding and tulip bulbs
  • Clear up fallen leaves around the lawn, from borders and the pond
  • raise containers onto pot feet to prevent waterlogging
  • Prune roses to prevent wind-rock
  • Start to insulate outdoor containers from frost- bubblewrap is a good option
  • Use grease bands around trunks of fruit trees to stop winter moth damage

Wildlife Gardening in November…

  • Clean out nesting boxes as birds will use them for shelter over winter
  • Continue to top up bird feeders
  • Leave seed heads on plants for food
  • Try to not cut back mature ivy as this will provide both nectar for pollinating insects and shelter for wildlife
  • Create a wildlife corner by using leaves, logs, twigs and rocks to provide shelter for insects and animals
  • Stop feeding fish once the cold weather sets in
